About P4K

Partnership 4 Kids (P4K) offers Omaha youth a solid foundation for lifelong success, stewarding them through critical academic transitions and preparing them to successfully achieve higher education and financial stability. It is our mission to engage and inspire students from preschool to graduation, guiding them to success with individualized support, career exploration, and scholarships. Partnership 4 Kids operates in 10 different Omaha Public Schools between Middle School and High School.

About the Role

P4K is seeking bilingual individuals to support communication with families by providing interpretation and translation services. This role is ideal for individuals who can effectively carry out conversations in Karen and English and are passionate about supporting their community.

Role Structure

This is an as-needed opportunity and not a guaranteed part-time position.

  • Hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on program needs
  • Selected applicants will be part of a small pool of contractors contacted as needs arise
  • Work assignments will depend on availability, language proficiency, and comfort level
  • Demand for work is expected to begin around mid-summer

Responsibilities

  • Conduct phone call interpretation between P4K staff and families
  • Relay messages in Karen and English
  • Assist with written translation (based on your comfort level)
  • Support communication between staff and families
  • Track and submit a log of completed translations/interpretations
  • Accurately track and report your hours

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Karen and English
  • Strong communication skills
  • Reliable, professional, and organized
  • Comfortable speaking with families over the phone
  • Basic knowledge of tools such as Canva, Excel, and Word preferred
  • No prior professional experience or certifications required

Additional Information

  • Flexible hours — work as much or as little as your schedule allows
  • Hours vary based on program needs (higher demand in Fall and Winter)
  • Training and ongoing support provided by P4K staff
  • Equipment (keyboards, etc.) is available if needed

P4K Student Benefits

If you are currently a post-secondary P4K student, you may choose to:

  • Count your hours toward P4K scholarship-required service hours

    OR

  • Receive hourly pay ($25/hour)
